BENEFITS OF SURGERY
Benefits will depend on your diagnosis but may include
- decreased pain
- improved hand movement
- improved hand strength
WHAT TO EXPECT
Depending on your diagnosis, a plan will be constructed to treat your specific problem(s). Sometimes improvement can be accomplished with an injection or hand therapy, otherwise the surgical options will be discussed. If the decision is made to move forward with surgery, our team will schedule help you select your surgery date. Some hand surgery requires general anesthesia, meaning you will be asleep for the operation. Surgical time varies depending on your diagnosis and treatment plan. You will go home the same day as surgery to recover. You may have a splint or bandage on your hand. We recommend you plan for extra help around the house for the days following your procedure as you adjust and recover. Recovery for each patient varies and depends on your lifestyle.
